Stresses Associated with Infertility Treatments

Fertility or rather infertility issues seem to generate heated discussions and very strong feelings. Women in the workforce appear to have a tough time balancing their fertility treatments, especially IVF, with the demands of their employment.

How IVF Can Impact Work Life

A recent discussion in the Wall Street Journal addressed the demands of IVF and job performance. One of the women stated that it was harrowing to juggle infertility treatments and the required erratic absences with fulfillment of job expectations.

The reason the absences are erratic is that the procedures cannot be planned because the appointment must be when the follicles and hormones are ready for retrieval. Another concern is that coworkers tend to become suspicious because of the woman missing work, and often conclude that she might be interviewing for another job.

The Difficulties of In Vitro Fertilization

Going through IVF is a terribly stressful process in and of itself. Furthermore, the hormones that must be taken in preparation for the egg retrieval can produce severe mood swings. In addition to the internal stressors, there are also external concerns. The treatments are quite costly and they are often only partially covered by insurance and there is no guarantee that they will result in a successful pregnancy.

The difficulties associated with infertility treatments are many and serious. Yet women who dream of starting a family willingly accept the travails and pain of the interventions and they appear to be motivated to keep trying until they reach success or accept that they cannot conceive a baby.

How HypnoFertility Helps with In Vitro Fertilization

It is for these women that we offer HypnoFertility sessions. Statistics show that hypnosis increases the probability of successful IVF and other fertility treatment modalities. Furthermore, hypnosis helps the woman negotiate the swells and dips of the emotional maelstrom released by pregnancy. Hypnosis also gives solace to the woman whose quest for motherhood ended in disappointment.
