Wonderful Very Short HypnoBirthing® Story

HypnoBirthing® is international. The following is a great story received from a proud grandmother in Great Britain and presented with her permission.

The grandmother Wendy, who is a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Practioner (HBCE), received a phone call from her daughter, pregnant with her second child, at 1am announcing that she thought her baby was on the way. Grandmother asked how close her surges (HypnoBirthing language for contractions) were, and she said probably about 10 minutes apart and added that they were not very strong.

Grandmother arrived at 1:30am when she was greeted by her daughter coming down the stairs with her newborn daughter in her arms. The new mother explained that she started having strong surges after she finished the call to her mother so she called her midwife. However, she gave birth at 1:20am before anybody had arrived and with her 3-year-old daughter sleeping peacefully in her room. Grandmother woke big sister so she could join the celebration and meet her new sister.

Both mother and the new baby are doing very well. The labor lasted approximately 25 minutes and the mother reports that the experience was great.

This posting reminded me of when I was working as an L& D nurse, I had a patient who had her baby 45 minutes after her labor began.
Both she & her husband (a doctor) were livid that there had not been “enough time” to get an epidural; talk about not seeing the big picture!!!

All my best and congratulations to Grandma Wendy and her lovely family on the beautiful natural birth of their new baby girl,
Carol
