Too Speedy Now Might Mean a Slowed Down Future

Of course babies come when they are ready or do they?  There seems to be a trend towards premature births that is an increasing number of babies are born outside of the expected time frame.  Researchers have found that the reasons for this are varied and poorly understood and much more work is needed before we can declare victory.

According to most studies only 1 in 20 babies are born on their “due” date.  This is hardly surprising considering that a normal full term pregnancy can last anywhere from 38 to 42 weeks, and most babies are born within two weeks of the “due” date.  In reality the “due” date is a “guess” date with most parents guessing right up to the delivery day.

Still, human babies take a specific amount of time to develop before they are ready for birth and life outside of the womb.  Naturally the element of time alone is not sufficient to ensure a healthy baby.  Factors such as the health of the mother, her access to plentiful nutritious food and her state of mind all play a significant role.

Researchers from Michigan State University examined the relationship between low-birth weight babies and psychiatric disturbances.  They found that low-birth weight babies are more likely than those with healthy birth weight to develop psychiatric disturbances during childhood and through high school.

Premature babies are born with a low birth weight.  Consequently it makes sense for prospective parents to do everything in their power to ensure that their offspring gets the best possible chance to grow and develop before they are born.  HypnoBirthing® offers such a chance. HypnoBirthing babies, according to statistics, are born with an average of 40 weeks gestation and weighing an average of 7 pounds 11 oz.
