I chose to wear purple today, my favorite color.  When I reached the elevator destined to lift me to the third floor where I work, I met a lady in a purple uniform.  We smiled at each other and prepared for lift off.  Just before this happened a very delighted man looked at both of us and happily declared “all right Laker purple “ before the closing elevator door made him invisible.

The purple lady and I shared a mutual smirk.  She stated she only wore purple because that’s the color she’s required to wear and that she had no particular liking for the Lakers.  Mornings are my least bright time so I was quietly wondering what a “laker” was, while I shared that I simply like the color.

We reached our destination and parted ways.

Much later in the day did it dawn on me that a “laker” is a basketball player and that the team color is purple.

How interesting that the three of us shared the same space and time for a brief moment yet had three different simultaneous realities.  Who is to say which reality was THE reality and does it serve a purpose to differentiate?  

The same is true for birth.  If an expectant mother takes HypnoBirthing ® classes she is likely to expect her birthing reality to match her birth rehearsal and there is a high probability that she’ll be correct.  On the other hand, if a pregnant mother follows the conditioning she has received from society in general, she very well might anticipate all manner of horrors to accompany her birth.  She too is likely to be correct.

If the two of them, the HypnoBirthing mother and the other mother, were to describe birth to a third person she would probably become quite confused and not know what to expect.  Her reality could  become that birth is full of conflict and very confusing.  

This example illuminates the wisdom in choosing wisely when creating reality.  HypnoBirthing is respectful towards parents and gives them opportunity to select the best possible birth for them.  HypnoBirthing also considers the unborn baby and encourages the parents and the baby to join realities to mutual benefit for all concerned.
