Of Course This Makes Sense

As most of us probably are aware this is the season for wishes and wistful thinking.  Depending on age, experience and circumstances we might write wish lists with an absolute expectation that our wishes will be fulfilled.  Again depending on circumstances, some of us might know that Santa Claus is the gifting agent and others might believe with an equal level of conviction that God is the author of all gifts.  There is also the possibility that we know our parents or other relatives will meet our expectations.  Whatever the case may be, the common denominator is that we make wishes with the belief that they will be met.

The premise that expectations create reality holds true in all of our life endeavors.  As we are very much aware in HypnoBirthing® thoughts are the means by which we shape our experiences.  We know that the mind controls the body and reacts to language with emotion.  It is because of this fact that the HypnoBirthing® philosophy presents and uses gentle non-medical terms to describe what is happening during the birthing experience.  We use words such as “wave” or “surge”, words that evoke an emotion of feeling good, rather than phrases such as “contractions” and “false labor” that evoke fear and expectations of pain.  Our goal is for the mother to experience a calm and relaxed birth according to her expectations and we use appropriate language to encourage and promote this event.

It is my wish that every expectant mother may have a wonderful birthing experience and that she will use HypnoBirthing® or other excellent child birth education to achieve this.
