I believe Hypnobirthing is an absolute gift to mothers, if one chooses to accept that gift available to them. I happen to be one of those mothers. I have a beautiful son who was born before his time, due to a hasty doctor, an unnecessary C-Section and an uninformed first time mom who put her power in the hands of doctors in nurses, believing they knew best. He was born 11/07/05 at 8pm. Due to being drugged and out of it from the C-Section, they took him from me, I passed out and didn’t get to hold or breastfeed my son till the next morning. I had made it known that I wanted to nurse my child, but not only did that not happen right away, but they gave him formula while he was in the nursery.
When I got my son, finally he and I had to get acquainted and he didn’t get the concept of nursing right away. We did skin to skin contact, I had a couple of lactation consultants help me. But most of all, I had friends who nursed their children who came to help me get this nursing thing down. Finally he got it the hang of it.
Fast forward to 2 years of age, a couple months into his second year I wean him. I think I did pretty good for a mom working full time and pumping part time!
My son, is nearly 3, but is having some difficulty in speech development. I sincerely believe this is due to him being cut out of me prematurely based on a due date generated from an ultrasound.
The baby in my belly is due sometime in November of this year and she will come when she is ready. I recently did the fear release hypnosis session, which really helped release some of those anxieties generated from the birth experience of my son.
I particularly enjoy the Rainbow Relaxation as I also view it as a chakra clearing exersize as well. This pregnancy is markedly different from the first because I am empowered with the gift of Hypnobirthing. I have had a variety of life stressors during the past three months and the relaxation techniques developed through helped me get through these stressful times.
I fully intend on having a natural, and comfortable birth. I will not be strapped to equipment and IV’s like I was with my first child. I will have a solid say in my birthing experience. My son is climbing on me at the moment so I must cut this short. It’s my bedtime too!
