In HypnoBirthing, it’s emphasized that a due date is pretty arbitrary and there is a lot of room for flexibility. However, doctors get hung up on numbers dates and time lines. This is why I’m not going to see my doctor again until my baby is born, unless she is available to help deliver. I calculated her due date as 11/13 per the first day of my last period. Per the ultrasound, the doctor’s due date is 11/16. When I see folks, they say I’m not that big and look like I have a couple of more months to go. On the Freeman side (husband’s side of the family), big babies are born. My just turned three year old son Andrew would have been big as he has been in the 100th percentile for growth since being one month old. He was just cut out of me too early based on an incorrect due date. He was 7 pounds even and 20 inches long when born.
The reason why I’m not going back to my doctor’s office until after the baby is born is because she has stated that if I’m “overdue” they will have to do a C-section due to the inability to induce unless dilated since I had a C-section before blah blah blah. She really didn’t explain herself well at all, as usual. I saw the nurse practitioner last time and she stated that the doctor would want to do a C-section if I didn’t deliver by 11/16. Full term is 38-42 weeks. That gives me until the end of November to be within normal limits of delivering. My doc is laid back and rigid all at the same time. A strange and annoying combination of traits. Especially annoying in a doctor. I’m sure she’s a great person, and seems nice enough, but she has too many patients to be mindful of individualized care. So that’s that. We will see when Jade arrives. I’d prefer her to be born this week. But if she isn’t, then it means she simply isn’t ready.
