Many people get confused when they hear the term “HypnoBirthing.” They automatically think about someone being hypnotized. While at its core that may be true, HypnoBirthing is an entirely different process than being hypnotized in the “stage show” sense of the word. Here, we talk a look at the differences between HypnoBirthing and hypnosis.
The Difference Between HypnoBirthing and Hypnosis
In stage shows, the hypnotist will regularly call an audience member up to the stage. Then, the hypnotist will place the willing individual under hypnosis using any one of a variety of methods. In most cases, the hypnotist will proceed to have the individual perform in a certain manner that they would, under normal circumstances, never consider. When the hypnotist brings the individual out from under their hypnotic trance-like state, the volunteer universally fails to remember anything that happened, much to the glee of the audience.
HypnoBirthing employs a certain form of self-hypnosis that enables the mother-to-be to remain fully awake and aware of what is going on around them at all times. Yet mentally, the birthing woman is able to remove herself from the fear that is associated with childbirth. This is accomplished through specific breathing patterns, relaxation techniques and positive affirmations. As the birthing mother relaxes, the body automatically releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller. The process is easy to master, but is most effective when learned from a hypnotherapist who is certified in HypnoBirthing.
HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method is a completely natural occurrence which relies on a state of mind. That is why women are taught to look at childbirth in a totally different light than what we have been force-taught over the years. Rather than looking at the birth cycle as a medical incident, mothers are now taught that childbirth is completely natural and the body is fully capable of handling it.
