Does HypnoBirthing Give a Pain-Free Birth?

Childbirth is a completely natural process. So why is it treated like a medical incident? Over the years, as a society, we have been made to believe that painkillers are necessary to get through the pain of childbirth. In reality, by eliminating the fear and tension associated with childbirth, you can effectively eliminate the pain that results from it as well.

In our accompanying article, How HypnoBirthing Works, we described the process that causes conventional childbirth to be painful for most women. It’s a process called Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome. HypnoBirthing eliminates this condition.

So, with Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome out of the equation, many of you may want to know, does HypnoBirthing give a pain-free birth?

The Truth Behind HypnoBirthing and a Pain-Free Birth

The human body is truly an incredible work of art. It’s completely self sufficient. When we need rest, the body sleeps. When we are sick, the body heals itself. Because childbirth is a natural occurrence within the body, it only makes sense that it should be able to handle and tolerate the experience without outside interference, right? This fact is true, but only attainable if you can train your mind to accept childbirth as the natural process that it is and become completely relaxed during the birth cycle. This is achieved through hypnosis, positive thoughts and affirmations.

It has been proven that if fear is in the mind and tension controls the body during childbirth, it causes the blood to leave the uterus, which results in a painful and stressful birth for both the mother and the baby. But, by following the teachings of HypnoBirthing, one can remain in a peaceful and happy state, completely cognizant and free of pain, throughout the childbirth procedure.

What is Experienced During Pain-Free HypnoBirthing?

Because the mother is in a state of self-hypnosis, little to no pain is experienced, but most women do express a feeling of pressure and sensation as the baby is birthed. This pain-free experience is achieved because in reaction to the changes taking place within the body, the body releases its own naturally-occurring painkillers in the form of hormones called endorphins. Many women who choose HypnoBirthing claim to experience an incredibly spiritual feeling as their baby enters the world the way he or she was meant to, in a peaceful and loving way, free from pain, tension and fear.

Actually, we don’t promise “pain free” births. We promise that prospective mothers have opportunity to become so in tune with their bodies and minds, that they will learn to relax everything except their birthing muscles during their birthing. When they are free of the fear-tension-pain syndrome their babies arrive into this world easily. HypnoBirthing teaches women to eliminate negative luggage such as fear based on previous experience or the horror stories of others, disappointment based on misplaced trust, and poor self concept resulting from being told “you are no good.”
