Avoid Depression and Prematurity Use HypnoBirthing®

Doctor De-Kun Li, the lead author of a study examining a possible correlation between depression and pre-maturity stated “depression during pregnancy is frequently dismissed or under diagnosed.”  This statement reflects the findings of a study examining 791 pregnant women which were that women who scored high on a depression scale had a 60 percent increased risk of delivering pre maturely.

The study found that pregnant women with symptoms of depression are at increased risk for premature delivery.  This situation presents a problem because the safety of antidepressant drug use during pregnancy is not known.

Dr. Li stated that treatment for depression does not have to involve drugs.  “Support from peers, friends and family can help.”

HypnoBirthing practitioners and their students agree wholeheartedly with this assertion.  Statistics show that HypnoBirthing mothers report a low incidence of preterm births and low birth weight infants.  Furthermore, the HypnoBirthing® program for child birth education is wonderfully positive and empowering for the babies and their parents.  The family becomes intensely involved in preparation for the birth.  Mother and baby learn to work closely together towards the goal of obtaining the birth the mother envisions.  The practitioner offers skillful support by listening closely to the mother and teaching her self hypnosis.  HypnoBirthing utilizes a powerful fear release for the parents and they learn the connection between rules of the mind and body responses.  Mother gains increased self confidence by practicing control of her body.  She becomes reinforced in her feminine power when she truly realizes that it is her birthright to labor and give birth according to the natural laws imbedded in her mind and body.
