Previous bouts of depression, a lack of social support, low self-esteem and a stressful pregnancy all increase the likelihood of postpartum depression according to a study, which appeared in the Archives of General Psychiatry.   The study was performed at the University of Irvine, Ca and involved 100 female subjects. That factors such as lack of [...]

This is the story of the birth of baby Honey as told to my collegaue Helen, HBCE, in Sydney, Australia and published with her permission.
Hypnobirthing was so much more than just learning how to have a
painfree birth … it’s a skill that changed my life forever!
It taught me about COMMUNICATION .. with my body, my [...]

Fresh from the HypnoBirthing® statistician: Our numbers are fantastic!  In the United States, 72 percent of HypnoBirthing women choose to birth without pain medication.  The percentage is lower world wide, as 37 percent of women in the United Kingdom (Great Britain) use nitrous oxide (which is rarely available in the US).  Our surgical birth rate [...]

A California woman recently gave birth to eight babies all at one time.  This event certainly is newsworthy because of its rarity and also because of the appeal to one’s imagination.  It’s fun to speculate to the future and imagine amazing birthday parties, baffled teachers, transportation challenges and the size of the dinner table.  One [...]

The season we just finished can be described as a season of wonders.  For Christians the wonder is the virgin birth of Jesus, for Jews the wonder is the miracle of the oil burning for eight days and for non religious people, the wonder might be that everyone survived all the stress.

These wonders have [...]

Unexpected Delight

I spent the week-end in Santa Monica observing my eldest sons’ 40th birthday.  He elected to celebrate this momentous occasion by joining a six week long trapeze course so he could celebrate his birthday by hurtling through the air. The culminating event was a performance on the Santa Monica Pier and his father and I, in conjunction [...]
